Repairing Your Credit the Right Way

Hi! My name is Donna and welcome to my trifle of a website! So why credit repair and why me?

Well, I’ll tell you. Seven years ago I was in a car crash. It was raining, I hydroplaned, and hit two other cars. Nobody was hurt, thank god, but I had to pay off the loan to my own car as well as the damage for the two people I hit. Couldn’t do it. No sir. So…

I declared Chapter 7 bankruptcy. That means I liquidated all my debt, which sounds nice in theory, but it also meant 10 long years of NO credit cards, NO loans for cars or houses, and having to buy everything via rent-to-own or just saving up. Hell, believe me.

Well after a few years of this, I needed a new car and I had to get my score up to par quick. And now I’d like to share what I’ve learned with anybody else who needs it, and can then follow my path to restoring their credit rating. BEWARE SCAMMERS WHO WILL TELL YOU THEY CAN REPAIR YOUR CREDIT WITHIN A DAY. It’s just not possible! At all!

When I first started seriously working on mine, it was 492, and I had it up to 673 in less than a year, which is ALMOST considered “average.”

The question is, do you NEED outside help? There is credit repair software, credit repair lawyers, and credit repair companies that claim to help you out, but do you need them? What can they do for you? And if so, which ones are actually good? I've used quite a few, so this website will attempt to disseminte the good from the bad.

Good luck!

The 3 Magic Ways to Remove Negative Items From Your Credit Report
One of the biggest problems that can affect your credit score are negative items on your credit history, especially when they are such items as "charge-offs" and "judgements." Getting these off your report can in some cases cause your FICO score to skyrocket. But how? Unfortunately, if you pay them they will most likely show as "paid charge off" or "settled charge off" which is almost as bad and won't help your score much, if at all. Ideally, you will want to get the negative account completely removed. Here are a few ways to do it:

3 Ways of Deleting Collection Accounts You Already Paid
Yes, you heard that right. Let's say at some point you settled a debt with a collections agency, and they marked the account as "paid charge off" or "settled charge off" or something similar. Despite the fact that it's now paid, being marked as such will still hurt your credit score. A lot. It's still a "collections account" on your credit report. But there is hope. You have three different options you can try to get rid of the account completely:

Should You Pay Off a Charge Off?
If you have a charge-off on your credit history, all this means is that a creditor gave up on you and turned the debt over to a collections agency. It doesn't mean you no longer owe the debt, it simply means that the creditor has written it off for tax reasons as part of their profit and loss statement; to them, it's normal; to you, it's one of the most damaging items you can have on your credit report.
