See How Easily You Can Get All Three Credit Score Reports for Free. Really.
You need to get copies of all three credit reports to see where your score is, and you've seen the television ads about "Free Credit Report.com." That scam, owned by Experian, will sign you up for a $79 annual subscription that you don't need. However, the government has ruled that you can obtain one annual copy of your credit report from all three credit bureaus absolutely free, without having to give a credit card number. The easiest way to do this is online.

The really, absolutely, and totally free site for your yearly credit report is at: annualcreditreport.com

You'll have to provide your name, social security number, and any addresses you've lived at for the past two years, but this is the real deal. ONE THING TO BE AWARE OF: your credit score will not be on your report! Your credit report lists all your accounts and how well you've paid them, whether any went to collections, whether you filed for bankruptcy, etc. You score is a three digit number that represents how risky you are to potential lenders. To get this you WILL have to pay on the same site. But for a reasonable price, at least.

But to raise your score, you'll need to see what's on your report.
